Evaluation for eGovernment Excellence Award 2010 to commence

The Jury for the Bahrain eGovernment Excellence Award 2010, organized by the eGovernment Authority under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology, commenced the evaluation process, of qualified participants whom submitted their projects.

The jury is comprised of local and foreign experts who have been selected based on their experience in the field of information and communication technology headed by Mrs. Julia Glidden, Managing Director of XXIc Consulting, the jury of 8 includes from Bahrain: Dr. Mohammed Baqer, Assistant Professor at Department of Computer Engineering College, at the University of Bahrain, Dr. Adel Ismail Al Al-Alawi, Vice President at the ISACA (Bahrain), Dr. Ahmed Azzam Al Masri, Deputy Director for Academic affairs, Arab Open University, Dr. Tariq Al-Sindi, Director of Higher Education Review Unit,, and Mr. Mazen Al Haddad, Managing Director of the Elephant Talk Middle East and Africa Holding, , from Kuwait: Dr. Salah Rashid Al Najem Consultant at the Central Informatics Technology , from UAE: Eng. Abdul Kader Kamali, President and Research Director of the (MADAR Research) Dubai Media City.

Members of the Jury discussed during their meeting each project separately to ensure matching the specified criteria and to measure the level of success for each application.

The registration for the public and private sectors deadline was April 30th 2010 and winners of the Award shall be announced during the official opening ceremony of the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2010 on 17th May, by H.H. Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister.

The award is allocated to a number of categories divided into three sections, which include: 6 categories for the ministries and governmental entities (Best eContent, Best eService, Best eMaturity, Best eProject, eEconomy award and eEducation award). It contains 3 categories for the Private Sector (Best ICT Solutions Provider, eEconomy award and eEducation award), as well as two categories for individuals (eCitizen award, Best eConcept).

The eGovernment Excellence Award is held for the third time in a row aiming to encourage the excellence in the field of ICT and develop it in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Award is a very good opportunity for participating countries to measure quality and evaluate the efficiency of government electronic services provided to the public. As well as to raise the status of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the rest of the GCC countries among world advanced countries in the field of egovernance and enhance their international ranking in this field.
